IT Smart Systems (ITSS) has formed a strategic partnership with Feedzai, a company described as the global leader in AI-native financial crime prevention. The alliance aims to combine Feedzai's fraud prevention technology with ITSS's digital banking integration expertise for financial institutions.

This move is a response to growing pressure on banks to manage sophisticated financial crime risks while maintaining smooth digital customer experiences. ITSS is expanding its service portfolio by incorporating Feedzai's RiskOps platform, which adds machine learning capabilities for fraud detection and anti-money laundering.

A unified ecosystem for financial crime prevention

Alex Cociu, Executive Partner at IT Smart Systems, stated that the partnership represents a strategic step. "Our customers already trust us to modernize banking platforms, integrate complex payment infrastructures, and deliver omnichannel digital experiences," Cociu said. The goal is to merge digital banking, payments, enterprise integration, and AI-powered fraud prevention into a single ecosystem for clients.

Securing the full payments journey

The collaboration use Feedzai's global risk intelligence, which the source states protects over $9 trillion in payments annually, and ITSS's 24 years of experience in digital banking. The objective is to strengthen fraud prevention across the entire payments process and all customer channels.

This signifies a shift from traditional payment processing to proactive, AI-driven security. The approach is specifically designed to secure emerging payment methods like instant payments and a potential future digital euro. Instead of treating fraud prevention as a separate security step, the partnership aims to embed real-time risk decisioning directly into customer journeys, from account onboarding to transaction monitoring.

Expanding regional access and integration

ITSS brings practical experience in integrating such capabilities across various banking functions, including omnichannel payments, SEPA payment flows, and KYC and AML processes. The partnership is also intended to significantly expand access to advanced RiskOps capabilities in Romania and the wider Central and Eastern European region.

Maximilian von Criegern, General Manager at Feedzai, highlighted the growing threat. "AI is making scams more convincing and more scalable than ever," von Criegern noted. He emphasized the human impact, stating that behind every fraud loss is an affected individual. The partnership with ITSS is framed as an effort to strengthen defenses against these evolving threats and help protect customers proactively.
