MoonPay PayBox adds Kamino lending
MoonPay integrates Kamino lending into its PayBox vault, enabling users to lend or borrow crypto through AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT.
MoonPay has added support for the Kamino lending protocol to its PayBox payment vault. The integration, which went live on the day of the announcement, enables eligible users to supply digital assets to Kamino's lending pools or borrow against collateral directly through conversations in AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT.
Kamino is a major decentralized finance protocol for lending, liquidity, and leverage on the Solana blockchain. In its markets, suppliers provide assets to shared pools from which borrowers can draw. Interest paid by borrowers is distributed to suppliers, with rates fluctuating based on demand and market conditions.
How the Integration Works
A user can instruct an AI assistant to perform an action, such as "supply 500 USDC on Kamino" or "borrow USDC against my SOL." The AI then prepares the transaction for execution through PayBox. The system uses the same permission rules that govern all PayBox transactions. Users can select an "Always Ask" mode, requiring passkey approval for each transaction, or an "Autonomous" mode where the AI can act within pre-set limits.
Funds and cryptographic keys remain under the user's control and do not leave the PayBox system. Access can be revoked at any time. MoonPay CEO and Founder Ivan Soto-Wright stated that this move is a major expansion of what people can do with money through AI. He emphasized that users can now go from an instruction to an on-chain lending position without leaving their AI chat interface, while PayBox manages permissions and secure execution.
PayBox Security and Availability
MoonPay launched PayBox in July 2026 as a payment vault designed specifically for AI assistants. It connects to Claude and ChatGPT via a custom connector, allowing an AI to prepare transactions without ever receiving a user's private key or raw credentials. Wallet keys are protected using threshold cryptography and secure enclaves. This ensures no single party, including MoonPay or the AI assistant, can access a complete private key or sign a transaction independently.
The new Kamino plugin is available immediately at paybox.sh. It is not currently available to users in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, or Australia. According to the announcement, availability may vary by jurisdiction, asset, and product eligibility.
