Regulation: European AI Infrastructure Startup Velatir Raises €5m to Accelerate Adoption Across Europe

European AI infrastructure startup Velatir has raised €5m in seed funding to accelerate the adoption of AI across Europe.

Danish AI infrastructure startup Velatir has raised €5m in seed funding in a round co-led by Nordic VC Spintop Ventures and Danish VC Ugly Duckling Ventures. Existing investors Norrsken Evolve alongside new backers such as Jan Oberhauser, CEO of n8n, and Thomas Visti, former CEO of Universal Robots, also joined the round. The Export and Investment Fund of Denmark also joined the round.

The company has developed a platform that helps businesses see, control and safely scale employee use of AI tools across their devices. Velatir was founded last year in Odense, the third-largest city in Denmark. Since its pre-seed in January, it has seen strong traction.

According to CEO Michael Blicher Sørensen, the emergence of AI was supposed to make everything more efficient, simpler and easier. However, in reality, many businesses have experienced the opposite, with complexities introduced to processes and a lack of maturity in how AI tools are used.

Velatir aims to give businesses back control and transparency, enabling them to move as fast as AI tools are developing.

The company has 80 customers across 30k applications and devices within sectors such as finance, manufacturing, marketing agencies, and the public sector. Velatir is growing 50-60% month on month, according to Blicher Sørensen. Its customers are now based across the Nordics, the Netherlands, France, and the UK.

Velatir plans to use its new capital to scale its operations across Europe. The company is opening its Stockholm office on October 1 and plans to open an office every quarter up until December 2027. The next office is likely to be in Paris, due to a strong pull from the French market.

Velatir targets mid-market companies with a current team of 30 people. The company runs a subscription business model with flat rates depending on the industry and the number of employees the company has. Blicher Sørensen believes that the team will have almost doubled by year-end.

The company's platform is built on European-owned and hosted infrastructure, deliberately opting out of American hyperscalers. Blicher Sørensen previously led technological and security audits across Meta's infrastructure portfolio of data centres.

Velatir's platform is designed to give businesses control and transparency over employee use of AI tools, addressing the complexities introduced by AI adoption. The company's focus on European infrastructure and cloud providers aims to promote a willingness among businesses to adopt European solutions.

Velatir's growth and expansion plans demonstrate its commitment to accelerating AI adoption across Europe. The company's platform is designed to address the complexities of AI adoption, giving businesses the control and transparency they need to move as fast as AI tools are developing.

Velatir is planning to open its next office in Paris, due to a strong pull from the French market and a few French customers.
