The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) will invest S$220 million over the next three years to strengthen the city-state's financial technology ecosystem. This funding forms the core of the renewed Financial Sector Technology and Innovation Scheme, known as FSTI 4.0.

According to the source, Singapore is already a significant fintech hub, hosting more than 1,800 firms that employ nearly 10,000 professionals. Fintech investments in the country reportedly reached S$2.9 billion in 2025. The new MAS commitment aims to accelerate innovation and technology adoption across the financial sector.

Scheme goals and implementation tracks

The FSTI 4.0 scheme is structured around four primary objectives. These are to anchor and scale innovation, accelerate the development and adoption of financial technologies, develop enabling infrastructure, and support talent development and attraction.

The authority will implement the scheme through six distinct funding tracks, each targeting a specific area of the ecosystem. For more detailed breakdowns of sector initiatives, you can explore our stats page.

Focus on talent and projects

A manpower track will co-fund internship stipends to help fintech firms build a pipeline of young talent. MAS aims to support at least 1,000 internship opportunities over the next three years through a new portal managed by the Singapore FinTech Association.

An institution project track will provide support for Singapore-based financial institutions and fintechs developing innovative solutions. This track will focus on frontier technologies including artificial intelligence, distributed ledger technology, and quantum technology.

Supporting AI and infrastructure

A dedicated AI pathfinder track is designed to support the scaling and adoption of market-ready AI fintech. It seeks to foster greater collaboration between financial institutions and AI providers.

Separately, an infrastructure and platform track will fund industry-wide infrastructure and platforms intended to improve sector efficiency, productivity, and innovation. The progress of such foundational projects can be tracked in our standings of key development indicators.

Anchoring expertise and global profile

The centre of excellence track aims to anchor the innovative functions of leading global financial institutions and fintechs in Singapore. This initiative is intended to bring together specialised talent and expertise while supporting growth in emerging technologies like AI, quantum computing, and digital assets.

Finally, a MAS FinTech Awards track will seek to raise Singapore's global profile as a fintech hub. This will be done through the Singapore FinTech Festival as well as awards and a hackcelerator program.
